Eating Apples Every Day Keep Heart Healthy

A small-scale study funded by the apple industry says that eating an apple a day can be good for the heart. Published in the Journal of Functional Foods, the researchers did find an adult who diligently eating apples once a day, can lower bad cholesterol in the body by 40 percent.


As reported by The Daily News, researchers from Ohio State University involving 16 adults aged 40-60 years who are not accustomed to eating an apple, which only consume less than two in a month. They were then asked to eat an apple every day for four consecutive weeks.

Meanwhile, another correspondent instructed to consume 17 capsules containing 194 milligrams of polyphenols for four weeks. Then as many as 18 people were asked to consume the drug with a placebo effect.

Although apples also contain polyphenols, this research proves that in fact eat apples whole is the best option of the three groups.

"It was caused by apple that could provide more specific effect. Example, the fruit absorbs bad components in the body because the nutrients are still intact," said lead researcher Robert DiSilvestro.

The researcher then explained the bad cholesterol in the body that can trigger free radicals meet inflammation and tissue damage. But by eating apples daily, bad cholesterol is able to decrease the amount. In addition, other high antioxidant-rich foods such as turmeric, green tea, and tomato extract has properties that are not more effective than an apple.

If you also intend to regularly eat apples every day, you should select is free of pesticides. So far apple fruit often called the most often contaminated with dangerous chemicals.
